Infectious diseases are highly transmissible through droplets, aerosols, feco-oral route, and from person to person. They carry a high risk of morbidity and mortality and draw a lot of economic attention. In the present century, COVID-19 is an example of such infectious disease which has increased the burden of intensive care and health infrastructure throughout the world. This book contains 16 chapters. Chapters on pandemic and intensive care unit preparation are nicely explained and good to read for administrators and intensivists. Role of crisis team like workplace management, research, education, medical, communication, supportive, vigilance, augmentation capacity, disaster planning has been clearly defined. Various reasons for such epidemics from time to time have been explained. How to triage during emergency situation and role of laboratory have also been written nicely. Certain diseases such as hemorrhagic fever, bacterial meningitis, coronavirus, malaria, and influenza, which are a constant threat to human beings and highly contagious, have also been explained nicely.
